The prompt from the end of every guide, in one place. Each one starts a conversation with your AI about doing the task. Open the guide for the full steps.
Conversations
Push back when the first answer is not right
I'd like to practise giving you better feedback. Give me a first draft of a short LinkedIn post about [a topic from my work]. Don't try too hard on the first version. Then let me push back on it. After each of my replies, tell me what you changed and suggest one piece of feedback I could give next that would improve it even more. Stop when I say I'm happy.
Talk to AI like a colleague, not a search engine
I want to get better at using you for my work. I've learned that I get better answers when I explain my situation, say what a good result looks like, and then react to your replies like I would with a colleague. Let's practise on something real. Ask me what I'm working on this week, then help me with one part of it. As we go, point out when more context from me, or pushing back on your answer, would get a better result.
Projects and memory
Set up a project so AI remembers your work
I want to set up a project in this AI tool so you remember the background to my work and I stop repeating myself in every chat. Interview me one question at a time about my role, the work I do most often, who I usually write for and how I like answers presented. Then draft the project instructions for me to paste in, keeping them under 200 words, and suggest which documents would be worth adding as files.
Write custom instructions once, save time every day
I want to write personal instructions that you'll follow in every conversation, so I don't have to explain my preferences each time. Ask me five questions, one at a time, about my job, what I mostly use you for, how I like answers laid out, the tone I prefer and anything that annoys me in AI answers. Then write my instructions in under 120 words, in the first person, ready to paste into my settings.
Writing
Ask AI to interview you before it writes
I need to write something and I'd like you to interview me before you draft it. It's a [type of document, eg email, report, proposal] for [who it's for]. Ask me questions one at a time to understand what it needs to say, who will read it and what I want them to do afterwards. Ask no more than six questions. When you have enough, write the first draft and tell me anything you had to assume.
Tell AI who it is writing for
I want you to help me write [what you're writing, eg an email, a summary, a proposal]. Before you start, ask me about the person who will read it: who they are, what they already know, how much time they have and what I want them to do after reading. Then write it for that reader, and tell me what you changed because of what I told you about them.
Research
Check an AI answer before you rely on it
I want to get better at checking the answers you give me before I rely on them. I'm going to paste in an answer you gave me earlier [or describe the question I asked]. Go through it with me. Point out every specific fact, figure, name, date or quote in it, tell me how confident you are in each and why, and tell me which ones I should check against an original source before I use them. Then suggest where I could check them.
Productivity
Build one AI task into your week
I want to build AI into my normal working week, starting with one task. Ask me to describe what a typical week looks like for me, one question at a time. Then suggest three recurring tasks where you could save me the most time, explain how we would do each one together, and help me write a reusable prompt for the one I pick.
Turn messy meeting notes into a clear action list
I've just come out of a meeting and want to turn my notes into a clear summary and action list to send round. I'll paste my notes below. Before you write anything, ask me who was there and what the meeting was for, if it isn't clear from the notes. Then write a short summary of the decisions made, followed by a table of actions with an owner and a due date for each. Mark anything that has no clear owner or date as [TBC] rather than guessing. Notes: [paste notes here]
Images
Describe the image you want in four parts
I want to create an image for [what it's for, eg a blog header, a presentation slide, a birthday card]. Help me describe it well before you make it. Ask me about the subject, the setting, the style and the shape or format I need, one question at a time. Then write a clear image description, show it to me, and create the image once I'm happy with the description.
